Aid to be used to purchase medical equipment to improve healthcare facilities for local differently-abled community

As part of its efforts towards the creation of an egalitarian society, Doha Bank, one of the largest private commercial banks in Qatar, has recently made a donation to the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, a local humanitarian organization that aims to support and develop the skills and capabilities of people with disabilities.

The donation, which was handed over by Mr. Ahmed Al-Henzab, Head of Administration & Properties Doha Bank, to Mr. Taleb Abdullah Afifa-Member of the Board of Directors at the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs will be used to purchase medical equipment for the local establishment.

“As part of our extensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, Doha Bank has been supporting targeted social programs for different communities in the country. We envision building a world that provides equal opportunities for all, and developing and nurturing skills and capabilities of differently abled people is a major step towards achieving the goal. We are very proud to support and work closely with the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, to promote non-discrimination and inclusive growth” said Mr. Ahmed Al-Henzab.

Mr. Talib Afifa praised Doha Bank’s financial support aimed at providing medical equipment and assistance to people with disabilities at the Association. He described the bank’s support as a unique initiative on the part of the bank’s management in line with its corporate social responsibilities, making it a model to be followed by other institutions, banks and companies in support of the groups that need community care, most notably people with disabilities. He also wished that the fruitful cooperation between the Association and the Bank would continue in the best interest of disabled people with a view to achieving the goals of the Association, which are seeking to rehabilitate, empower and integrate people with disabilities into society and thus providing them with decent prospects in life.

Doha Bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to champion social and environmental causes have been constantly recognized by the industry leaders. Most recently in October, the Bank was awarded the “Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability in financial sector 2017” presented by the Institute of Directors (IOD) India in October at a ceremony in London.
