The step comes in line with the Bank’s CSR efforts and to promote the government’s constant measures to combat the coronavirus’s spread
Building on its efforts in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Doha Bank, one of the largest private commercial banks in Qatar, announced its contribution of 1000 tablets in support of the E-learning initiative launched by Qatar Charity as part of its “Our Good for Our People” campaign. This step aims to help students in need to resume their education online, in light of the Qatari government’s recent decision to suspend public and private schools and universities until further notice. The initiative also comes as part of the precautionary measures taken by the Qatari leadership to curb the outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
Furthermore, Doha Bank’s management has adopted all necessary protective actions in order to ensure the safety of its clients and staff. Th Bank enhanced all its digital channels and encouraged its clients to utilize them, in addition to urging them to visit the branch only in case the required banking service is not available via these channels. Doha Bank’s electronic channels include Mobile Banking, Online Banking, WhatsApp, Doha Sooq, DBank Dial, and ATM machines. Additionally, the Bank’s management had encouraged its clients to avoid using banknotes and replace them with Doha Bank contactless debit and credit cards. The customers can have access to a wide variety of services, such as, local and international money transfer, utility bill and card payment, viewing balance and transactions, cash and cheque deposits, cards activation, and requesting cheque books.
Commenting on Doha Bank’s initiative, Ahmad Al Henzab, Head of Administration & Properties, said: “This move comes in accordance with Doha Bank’s CSR efforts and its commitment to serve the society, particularly during the current time of uncertainty witnessed by our county and other countries around the world due to the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) at a very quick pace. During these challenging circumstances, our country has taken several effective precautionary measures to tackle the spread of the virus and guarantee the safety of the nation. These included the temporary nationwide closure of schools and universities to ensure the safety of our children, which is considered to be a wise and critical preventive measure. Therefore, many educational institutions have turned to e-learning platforms through the internet so that the students’ educational performance and learning outcomes don’t get affected. It is in that spirit that we contributed to these efforts through upholding Qatar Charity’s initiative to provide the needy students in the society with tablets in order to help them continue their education along with their peers.”
Al Henzab also praised the decisive decisions and precautionary actions taken by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management to overcome the contagious infection, pointing out to the important role played by the health care professionals as well as their continuous efforts to contain the situation and treat the infected cases.
